- People who identify as having a hidden disability can get their sunflower products from any of our members, visit our map to find your local Sunflower-Friendly member or click here to purchase your Sunflower products online.
- HD Sunflower is dedicated to helping businesses, NFP, NGO’s and government organisations to identify and support customers with a non-obvious disability.
- The HD Sunflower was established in 2016. Since then it has been adopted globally across Major Airports, Shopping Centres, Sporting venues, Cultural Institutes, Healthcare Facilities, Retail Outlets, Councils, Educational Institutions, Transport Networks and more.

What is a Hidden Disability?
In Australia, 1 in 5 people have some form of disability and 80-85% of these people have a disability that is hidden. That’s roughly 17% of the people around you who may have a non-visible disability that may impact their lives. Hidden Disability is a term interchangeable with non-obvious, invisible or non-visible, it simply means that the disability may not be apparent
to an observer as there is no obvious indicator.
What is The Sunflower Program?
Living with a Hidden Disability can make daily life more demanding for many people, but it can be difficult for others to recognise, acknowledge or understand the challenges faced. Wearing the Sunflower icon, discreetly indicates to staff, colleagues and health professionals that the wearer (or support person with them) has a hidden disability and may need
additional help or simply more time.
Sunflower Wearer
Individuals can purchase the products online direct from our website or collect from a participating Sunflower member and choose to wear them to be identified as someone needing extra time or assistance without having to ask for it.
Sunflower Members
Organisations who join the program can support their staff through online training resources to confidently approach someone wearing the Sunflower ensuring that they feel included and have a positive and rewarding experience.
Organisations can purchase sunflower products in bulk to distribute at no cost to their patrons, customers and staff who choose to wear one and promotional items to demonstrate that they are a “Sunflower-Friendly” venue, service or event.
Where is the Program today?
The Hidden Disability Sunflower is an internationally recognised brand spreading globally across North and South America, Europe, Oceania and the Middle East.
Since 2016, millions of sunflower products have been distributed globally to people with Hidden Disabilities and thousands of organisations have joined the program across Major Airports, Shopping Centres, Sporting venues, Cultural Institutes, Healthcare Facilities, Retail Outlets, Councils, Educational Institutions, Transport Networks and more.
